'Be Kind' Friday!
(This is a picture of me on Halloween sometime in the mid-90s. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be.)
Happy Friday!!! We've made it through the long and tedious week and it's almost time to recharge our batteries before Monday rolls around again.
So this morning I woke up groggy and exhausted from staying up too late reading about tax reform (I don't exactly live an exciting life). I went downstairs to make myself some coffee when I realized I ran out yesterday and completely forgot to buy more.
So, in my finest sweats, I jumped in my car and drove to the nearest Starbucks. I ordered a venti ginormous coffee and pulled up to the window with my debit card in hand. The lady at the window handed me my 8-gallons of Pike Place and said, "It's on us today."
"WHAT?!? Are you serious?" I replied. "Yup, have a great day," she smiled as I drove away.
I know a lot of places do Free Coffee Fridays, but I have to say this really made my heart happy. I was super grumpy when I woke up this morning. This small act of corporate generosity and excellent customer service turned my day around. I'm not kidding. It made me want to do something kind for someone else.
In the spirit of the nice cashier at Starbucks I'm proposing we all participate in 'Be Kind Friday'. You don't have to do anything crazy. Maybe just hold open a door for someone? Maybe tell someone you love them (only if you really do though)? Maybe just do something small that might make another person's day easier? There's endless possibilities. You don't have to spend money to be kind either. Although, if someone wants to bring me another coffee this afternoon, I will not say no.
The world is full of negativity and sadness right now. Small acts of kindness are the perfect reminder that good still exists and that we actually care about one another. By making someone else's day, you'll also improve your own. It's a win-win.
Happy Friday! Spread some joy today!
